How to avoid prison...

...crocodile tears! And the judge fell for it. Makes you proud to be British, doesn't it?

It's very amusing to sit on the other side of the world and observe the remnants of what used to be a system of protecting people and bringing offenders to justice slowly collapse in on itself through its own lunacy. These stories are a great cure for any residual feelings of doubt about emigrating!

And so that country continues to hurtle towards its own destruction, teetering on the edge of widespread civil catastrophe and institutional breakdown. I predict this within ten years the way thing are over there now. In the interim, the 'nation', whose identity is formed around a distinct lack of one, has not quite fallen into the abyss yet, but its not doing much to save itself either.

When it finally does go, with a whimper rather than a bang, will the rest of the world even notice? Ingerlund certainly seems to exist in its own parallel universe of morality, justice and logic these days...

It seems like crime is about as bad in Australia as it is in Britain (according to the ICVS 2000, there are about 58 crimes per hundred residents in both places). England and Wales have about 145 prisoners per hundred thousand residents, while Aus only has 126). My question is, are the Australians really any less lenient. You should have come to Canada if you were Dominion-shopping (42 crimes per hundred residents). There seem to be a fair number of British cops around here.

Interesting to see that you've swapped the most cosmopolitan city in the world for a country generally acknowledged as one of the most endemically racist.

Then again, you are a copper.

and just as you leave...

They get rid of Bow Street for a few more ££..

Manchester's the most cosmopolitan city in the world? And Japan is undoubtedly the most racist country. No Western nation comes close.

And there was me thinking that "Bow Street Runner" might be a reference to London. Where, y'know, Bow Street is. I guess "Canal Street Piglet" doesn't have the same ring to it.

Well, ole, as I'm sure you know, the Bow Street Runners were the precursors to the Metropolitan Police. They were around in the 18th c., so unless this guy is three hundred years old, we should probably not be too narrow in our interpretation of the title. And every single news article he cites is from Manchester. I guess you didn't notice that. And you'll find plenty of racism in Britain (I recommend you go to Bradford).

A fair point, I suppose. And I'm more than aware of how racist this country can be. If I can avoid going to Bradford by admitting that now, so much the better.

I agree with Anonymous. Not to familiar with history, but I have heard something like that.

There are several popular Slimlinic Keto weight loss plans, such as the Atkins diet, Mediterranean diet, Zone diet, and the South Beach diet. These plans are not aimed at weight loss, but a generally healthier lifestyle.
